Sipping Fine Wine

Bright Ruby red color with aromas of red fruits with sweet spice notes, aged in French oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and red plum with vanilla, oak and cacao notes. Fine soft tannins, long finish, ending with fruit, oak, pepper and earthy character. Nice value!

2016 vintage. Tasting again after a month. Still a 9.2 and much too youthful.

The reviews say that it’s over Oaked and imbalanced at least in this vintage but I disagreed. This is still quite tight and while it’s no Rioja Alta, it’s still quite good.

Merry Christmas Everyone! Tonight I have opened a Tempranillo from Spain. Upon first opening there was alcohol a plenty. I let it set for 30 minutes and that alcohol blew off pretty well. The aromas I am getting are those of stewed prunes, herbal notes, tobacco, and vanilla. On the palate I get plum, black cherry, and tobacco. This is definitely a full bodied wine with a smooth mouth feel, medium + tannin, and medium acidity. A very nice Tempranillo and I only paid $24.99. Please have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
