Perfume of dried red flowers, Italian plum, mocha, orange peel, must. On the palate a touch of raisins but mostly ripe fresh blue, black and red fruit. Compote-like, with wood spice on the palate and long, firm red acids. Calm tannins frame the finish. This has aged really nicely though is still a bit ripe for my palate. Could definitely go another 5 years before prime.

Couldn’t imagine drinking this as a new release. Needs so much bottle age plus air time. However, at 16yrs old in addition to an hour of bottle decanting, this was singing. Tannins were chalky. Tobacco, leather, blackberries, cigar smoke. Incredibly unique. A thinking wine.

Lessons- be patient and enjoy with food. At first quite closed down and too savory to enjoy. The second night with earthy food, the balance of earth and fruit revealed hidden complexity.

I had a feeling this would go perfectly with enchiladas. I think I'm right.

Taking hours to unwind - still super inky with barely any signs of age: these wines run hot but after the alcohol burns off there is big time boysenberry/blueberry loamy chocolate spice huge grippy tannins extraordinary depth concentration & length

Oh boy! This recommendation from the sommelier at RPM steakhouse in Chicago doesn't disappoint on any level. Opened up quickly to get the notes of leather combined with blackberry and some hints of floral notes that keep it from being too oak influenced. Some violet if I'm not commenting after finishing the bottle and it turns it somebody's grandmother's sitting next to me at the bar. Anyway, as usual for me Spain continues to offer more interesting wine than anywhere globally so "Viva Espana" and find this Tempranillo buy it and enjoy.
