Dark red. Medium bodied. Mild tannins; with minor notes of currants, cherries and black berries. Long spicy finish. Paired nicely with a gnocchi pomodoro. Very smooth, nice wine.

Monastrell【モナストレル】
バレンシア州のモルベドレ村周辺が原産地と推測されている。この地域の15世紀の文献にモナストレルのワインについて記述されており、18世紀まで高い評価を得ていたといわれる。その後、南フランスのラングドック・ルーションやプロヴァンスへと栽培が広がった。フランスではムールヴェドル、オーストラリアとアメリカではマタロと呼ばれる。現在スペインでは主に地中海沿岸のバレンシア、ムルシア、カタルーニャ州で栽培され、リオハやアラゴン州でも古い畑に一部栽培されている。
中くらいの房で、果粒は丸く、果皮は青みがかった色で、厚く、果肉はしっかりとしている。旱魃には強いが、ミルデュー（ベト病）やオイデュム（ウドンコ病）に対する抵抗力は弱く、成熟が遅く、完全に熟すことは難しい。しかし近年は、きちんとした栽培管理と優れた醸造家の造りによって世界的に注目されるモダンなスタイルのワインを次々と誕生させている。ロゼ、赤、甘口、カバ、酒精強化ワインなど幅広いタイプのワインを生む。

Easy drinking dry ted. The oak is very gentle. Great after taste. Went great with my lamb at Union 8 Dublin 8. One to re-visit.

Explosion of candy cherry, vanilla and oak aromas that are pronounced both on nose and palate. Very enjoyable spanish monastrell although it's short finish.
