Medium bodied garnet red with smells of leather shop and summer woods, some oaky notes of char and campfire smoke, giving way to a juicy mouthfeel dominated by red cherry, along with some plum and blueberries. On the palate is more juicy red and black cherries and plums, blueberries, with some char. Strong tannins are pretty smooth and linger well. Great value pick from Trader Joe’s. Should go well with most foods like tomato based pastas, grilled veg, and lean meats.

.1 bump for QPR ($12) - this wasn’t a flabby bloated Mourvèdre - plenty of that in Jumila & Yecla... this had some guts but some refinement w/beautiful ripe darker fruits & distinct smoky minerality. Balanced & lush on palate tho finish bordered on rustic.
