Bodegas Ignacio Marin
Marin Old Vine Garnacha
The wine is a dark ruby color, but beginning to show some brick notes on the edge, a sign of its age. On the nose, big cherry aromas are met with violet and a smokey oak spice. The taste gives dark notes of cherry with earthy minerals and a nice grip, but the tannins are not too toothy. In fact, it’s fairly smooth. The finish is medium long.

Hmmm, ‘Old Vines’ it’s not just for CA Zin now...
Dark red with a crimson robe in the glass. Smells good; like oak woodlands meets cherries. Tastes good; like tart juice from red fruit and bitters made of orange peels and barks. It’s a pretty smooth operator, but it’s also balanced and as dry as linens on the line in the desert. It’s not as funky or strange as some of my favorite Granacha’s, but this is just nice tasty red wine at a nice price point, old vines or not.
Had it again. Still an excellent Granacha for a good price.

2010 vintage, tasted in October 2017. Decanted for two hours. Great food wine! Big, lovely nose. Very much alive, with medium-full body, smooth tannins and good acidity. Red fruit and hint of vanilla. Solid, medium length finish. Nice pairing for BBQ, grilled fish, duck and charcuterie.
