La Gitana Manzanilla Sherry
Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Jerez, Andalucía, Spain
Pale light gold in colour. Aromas of Flor yeast, nutty, oxidative. Aspects of over ripe mouldy apple. Refreshing and salty, finishing bone dry. Trying to understand Manzanilla and Sherry in general. This is a fino Sherry made from the Palomino grape. The more I sipped this the more I liked it. 15%ABV. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Manzanilla is best drunk when young and fresh. Incredible value at only $25 AUD for a half bottle.

Brilliant green olive tones on both the nose and the palate. Not my favorite expression, but as far as the spectrum of sherry is concerned, this one definitely has its place on the lesser side of complexity.

On my minimal sherry game palette, seems like a great start. Walnuts and mead without the honey, crushed dry herbs giving it a hint of medicinal quality. Quite smooth

Feb 26th, 2020Delicate aroma of sunflower seeds, ripe yellow apple, chalk, dry orange peel, white currant. Good balanced, with good texture, but little bit watery and also little bit simple on the palate. Long mellow finish with small burning sensation.
