nearly opaque. meaty/toasty on nose, black fruits, leaning toward savory more than jammy fruity. I love wines that are meaty on the nose so I am intrigued! chewy but not clunky, lively acid helps pull out the tannins. nice. The name makes reference to the 12 families (lineages) that got together in 1982 to establish the Ribera del Duero D.O. 14 months in oak barrels (50% French, 50% American. 60% new barrels). 70 year old vines.

This is a smooth, 8 year old, Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Showing black fruits with oak, licorice, spices, vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso and chocolates.

Spicy finish with big tannins and cherries.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the tannins.

Easy drinking and good by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$27.

Smooth and nicely balanced. Earthy and plenty of fruit, right out of the gate. Opens up beautifully a couple hours later. 92 Pts WE make sense. Great value too.

Enjoyablely dry. I tasted tart cherries. The acidity was noticeably present and danced on the back of my throat. Bottom line this should be in the must buy column.

Too, too much oak, esp. For a crianza. Otherwise it's quite ok.
