Bodegas Faustino
Faustino V Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend
Popped and poured; consumed over two days. Really delightful throughout but the most expressive on Day 2. The wine pours a deep ruby color with medium viscosity and no signs of sediment. On the nose, medium intensity with bright, fresh black and red cherries, potpourri, blood orange and spices. On the palate, confirm the fresh cherries, raspberries, fresh dill, dry earth, minerals, and spices. Medium body. Medium tannin. Medium+ acid. The finish lasts for well over a minute and its immensely satisfying. Great on its own and fabulous with food too. A contender for value of the year at sub-$14 USD.

Sep 20th, 2021This was a delicious Rioja. Not sure if it's super traditional, but beautiful nonetheless.

5 people found it helpfulJul 27th, 2014375ml. Initially, immediately after opening, this wine displayed aromas of Inquisition dungeon, shower curtain, and despair. However, after 2 hours, that all blew off and other, pleasant aromas of tree bark, coffee, cinnamon, herbs, and pepper, over still fairly lively primary fruit such as red currant, with stewed plum and fig, and bacon. If you can get this vintage in 750ml or larger format, you will be happy. This wine continues to evolve well in the glass so that's it.

Medium-bodied, this old-school Tempranillo offers moderate acidity and low-to-moderate, but fine tannins. The profile of the nose echoes that of the palate, and it paired reasonably well with grilled steak fajitas. 12.5% ABV
