Bodegas Ego
Infinito Monastrell Blend
This had all the characteristics you like in a good jumilla without the pomp and circumstance of a fancy bodega. 36/25/20/19 monastrell/cab/Syrah/verdot. Rounded fruit, dash of cocoa powder, plum, and deep red cherry w a touch of white pepper and a really nice wash of tannins. Popped w some slightly spicy food.

Oct 31st, 2019Mixed feelings. (Get it? It’s a blend.) It’s big, it’s inexpensive. The nose promises and what comes next delivers some of that promise. But there’s a sour note in the finish that I can’t ignore. In the end, it’s just ok. Update: I tried another bottle of the 2015 and Jason is right. Any unpleasantness in the finish is masked by food. Still would like more tannins and less fruitiness but I upped my rating a bit. Thanks for the comment Jason!

Mar 25th, 2019Color of shades of purple. Nose of dark fruits, like black and blueberry, vanilla sweetness, milk chocolate, and a bit spice. Taste of solid tannins, silky and mouthful, oaky and sweetness from vanilla and ripe black cherry, maybe a bit too sweet, spices and zest on 2nd wave, and a bit medicinal note. Tasty. Aftertaste is medium long, with warmth, more oak, more repetition from the tastes. Sip after sip.
