Dark purple with a semi opaque rim. Clean and clear with a moderately intense nose of wood smoke, spice box, lavender and plum. Bright fruit, quenching acidity fill the mouth with kirsch, blackberry, balsamic and toasted oak. The finish is subtle and longer than expected.

Nice bouquet and richly fruited mid-palate, but the alcohol makes an appearance on the back end and mars an otherwise enjoyable QPR wine.

I gave this 15 or 20 minutes and then decided if I was going to drink wine tonight, then it wouldn't be this. 4 hours later and the nose is more Alto Moncayo than Alto Moncayo... Banana-Vanilla Creme Pie on steroids. Unfortunately it doesn't quite carry the weight of Alto on the palate, but at $12, is a comparison anything but unfair? This is shockingly good and a completely different wine than what I tasted 4 hours ago.

Oak, chocolate, sweet dark fruit (blackberry I guess). And very spicy finish - chilli pepper.
