Blend of 95% Tempranillo, 4% Graciano and 1% Mazuelo, aged 28 months in French oak, deep Ruby with garnet edges, aromas of ripe fruits, vanilla spice and oaky notes. On the palate flavors of ripe plum, blackberry and currants with vanilla, tobacco and cedar notes. Fine structured tannins, long finish, savory ending with tobacco, oak and leather notes. Nice!

Adventuring past Lopez or Rioja Alta slways intrigues- this ‘12 beauty is broad & generous. Black fruited & rich, medium acidity. While Rioja Alta’s lineup may have finer tannins & more acidic snap on the back end, this is all about the fruit.

Oct 18th, 2022This wind pours a very dark rust to ruby red. It has an excellent nose with smells of spice. The flavor is excellent there is a layer of spicy almost candy, on top of a layer of dried dark fruits, as other reviewers have said. And all of this is on top of a slight flavor of leather and aged wood. There is just a little bit of acidity and very nice tannins. And a very good finish. This was an absolutely outstanding find at Costco for $23. If I see it there, or at total wine again I’ll be buying it.

We preferred the 2011 vintage... Good intense color, strong nose of violets and plums, less elegant than expected from the vintage. Balanced palate a little on the sweet side. A good wine, expected more from a gran reserva.
