Bodegas Balbas
Gran Reserva Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon
Isn’t it weird to think back to when wines were made?
Like this is from 2005. I was 19. I was a baby.
This has aged better than I have though.

Give it air and time. And it will give you flavones and tastebud thrills .
Had some grilled corn and jerked lamb with my honey. YUM

A little too overtly Tannic on the barrel side at first. Still good, but will drink for a few days. Opened up nicely later the night of opening.

Apr 17th, 2016Still totally fresh. Cherry juice, root beer, meat, cedar, mineral, orange peel acidity. Both structured and juicy. Light on the palate. Delicious.

Feb 6th, 2016Covid-19 shut in splurge wine! Tempranillo/Cab Sauv Blend. Soft and balanced after an hour decant. Dark Cherry, root beer, cedar, beef and mineral aromas and flavors. Hints of vanilla and licorice. Oak is present but not overwhelming. Well crafted, complex and easy to drink. Terrific!
