Valdeorras Old Vines Godello

90 year old vines cut from 300 year old vines planted by Spanish monks. Slate soils provide great minerality...the rest of the palate is lemon curd, honeysuckle and tropical fruit. 👌

A Galician nugget. Honeysuckle. Reminiscent of Catalonian style dry white. This one is off dry.

A Little more ripe than previous vintage that we tried. Guava, pear, apple, lime, dove soap, tiny bit of wet stones, a bit funky like a burg. A bit muddled smelling and tasting. Good. Much better day 3. Upped the rating.

Sweet Godello. Not my style.

One of my favorites. Lots of character. Takes oak well. Somehow crisp and round and sweet at the same time.

First time trying this grape Godello. Sorta like a Dry River Pinot Gris or a chenin. Aromatics / might marry well with Thai cuisine

Have you heard Billie Holidays song Strange Fruit? This song describes my cup of Godello. It’s a perfect combination of papaya and honey.

Don’t understand the sweet comments. It’s not. Kinda what I want a mid priced chard to drink like, but they rarely do. Acidic. Some buttery touches but not too much. Nice easy drink.
