Never had as a stand alone varietal, as my encounters were always with typical Rioja blends, so combined w its 10$ price tag my expectations were very low— & voila, a star is born. Fruit forward but balanced- makes sense given the arid Navarra region-& they even managed to squeeze in 4 months of barrel age.

The wine poured a deep purple red. It had some flavors of dried red fruit initially. And it finishes with an earthy vegetable essence. There are nice tannins. The wine paired well with the New York grass fed steaks that we paired it with. As other reviewers have mentioned I don’t think it amounts to a 92 rating like wine enthusiast gave it. But for $6.40 at grocery warehouse, it’s a very good value. Supposedly it’s MSRP was $40, but like the wine enthusiast rating, I kind of question that.Nevertheless, I might pick some more up if I see it at grocery warehouse again. #grocerystorewine #redwine #spain #navarra
