Named after a Spanish rooster, this wine is a highly compelling blend of wine is composed of 50% Garnacha Blanca, 35% Malvasía, and 15% Viura sourced from head-trained vines gown in a mix of alluvial and calcareous soil from the municipalities of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Briones with Rioja Alta. The three different grape varieties, harvested at different dates according to ripeness, come from the Leza, Ariasabal, Murmurón, El Sauco, El Bombón y Las and Tasugueras Vineyards. The wine was aged in 225 L New French oak barrels for eight months of lees aging and battonage. This wine opens with bright aromas of lemongrass, lychee, nectarine and star jasmine. Aromatically gratifying and compelling the wine constantly brings you back to the glass for more enjoyment. The unctuous texture entices as the silky wine glides along the mid-palate. Orange rind, Meyer lemon, Gravenstein apple pie and white rose flavors come to mind. This is an absolutely stunning bottling by the talented hands of Benjamin Romeo. Drink 2019-2028- 94

The 'Que Bonito Cacareaba’ by Bodega Contador is a stunning effort in this vintage. The wine is a compelling blend of 50% Garnacha Blanca, 35% Malvasía, 15% Viura all sourced from head-trained vines gown in a mix of alluvial and calcareous soil from the districts of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Briones with Rioja Alta. Showing off a golden hue, this exudes a wide range of aromatics, from unripe nectarine to lychee to tangerine zest. The texture is polished and downright unctuous, yeilding flavors of bright pear, pink grapefruit zest, starfruit and lychee that all beautifully connect. This is bright yet highly rich and satisfying. A sensational effort by Benjamin Romeo. Drink 2019-2035- 94

More depth and power, some minerality and plenty of purity. Though it comes across a little tight, it is more complex than the Predicador Blanco.
70% Garnacha Blanco, 20% Malvasia, 10% Viura
This spent 8 months in new oak.

17.5 deep gold, lovely nose, abundant white fruits, very long. One reviewer says ‘hot’ - no! Super 10 years on, and it will hold at least 5 more.

Quite the birthday dinner. By far the best wine paring I have ever had with a dinner. Now it’s time to go run the Chicago Marathon! Super funky white Rioja. Grenache Blanc aged in American oak. Had a crazy barn/Hay funk on the nose.
