Medium lemon with aromas of stone fruits, spice, citrus, floral and yeasty notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach & apricot with some lemon citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty notes. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with lively acidity, ending with fruit, integrated with wet stone mineral character. Pair with a grilled King Salmon with Beurre Blanc. Nice now and will age a bit more!

The ‘White Stones’ Chardonnay by Bodega Catena Zapata is a stunning new wine that was sourced from select 27 rows within Block 1 of the Adrianna Vineyard. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak puncheons prior to bottling. On the nose this shows gorgeous salinity with wet stone and bright Meyer lemon zest aromas that build in the glass. The palate shows incredible freshness and intensity with lemon rind, vanilla creme brûlée and gorgeous stony character. A complete wine, this impressive effort would pass for a top Chablis. Enjoyable now, this will continue to cellar well over the next decade. Drink 2019-2029- 94

A blend of flavors varying from golden apples to white flowers, apricot and butter. Sharp acid.

One of the best chardonnays in the world. Super unique. Legendary parcel of vines that have some of the best terroir for Chardonnay in the world. World class in every way. I'm so in love with the finish on this wine. It's like grand cru Chablis with the finish of mint/fernet/herbs.

On the nose, lots of honeysuckle & citrus blossoms, green apple, ripe pineapple (near juice), green melon, some mango, popcorn without much butter, Jasmine, spring flowers, just a hint of spice, stones, some light vanilla and beeswax.

The body, thick, full and a touch waxy. It’s delicious. honeysuckle & citrus blossoms, green apple, ripe pineapple, green melon, mango, lemon, lime-near candy, popcorn without much butter, Jasmine, spring flowers, more spice on the palate, mid intensity crushed volcanic minerals that cut across the palate like a blade, stones, some light vanilla and beeswax. The acidity is round and beautiful. The long, full, well balanced finish is excellent and lasts a couple of minutes. Their near perfect softer wood use on this Chardonnay is right in the center of my wheelhouse. I would drink this over just about every CA Chardonnay I’ve ever had.

Photos of, Catena Zapata with the beautiful snowy Andes Mountains in the background, the White Stone Vineyard soil this wine grows, Laura and Nicolás Catena Zapata and their amazingly beautiful barrel room.

Menthol, medicinal, herbaceous, pronounced aromas, super ripe fruit, honey, rounder style with good body. Not my style of wine but will throw you on a loop in a blind tasting.
