Bodega Aleanna
El Enemigo Bonarda
Mendoza, Cuyo, ArgentinaThis was a pop and pour and worse for it. Somewhat stinky with a slightly reduced, tank note that was slightly banr yardy. Could improve with air...I also liked the label on the single vineyard Bonarda better 😉

This instantly reminded me about the Charbono I drank about a month ago. Well, little did I know that Argentina Bonarda is Charbono in the U.S.
Stewed black fruits, raspberry, licorice, allspice, subtle bell pepper and hint of violet. Quite masculine on the palate, but viscous and ultra smooth. Juicy acidity provides firm spin. The tannins are still quite formidable.
Argentina Bonarda is genetically identical to Douce Noir from Savoie. In Italy, Bonarda refers to a group of varieties.

Enjoyed this more than many Chardonnays, especially California Chardonnays. I just don’t love Chardonnays in general because of the buttery/creaminess. This felt like a happy medium between French and California Chardonnay. It is fresh enough that I didn’t write it off by the first sip. Has some pear and apple notes up front. The oak comes through with some vanilla and toasted notes later. This does have some creaminess, but not enough to make it heavy as it opens with those crisp notes. If you are a Chardonnay person I imagine you would love this as a more balanced approach.

Delicioso para acompañar carnes, pastas y dulces. Bonarda es la primera ocasión. Un vino muy significativo para el momento que estoy viviendo. Prosperidad y abundancia.

Last of the 3 bottles. Still going strong and will have another 4-5 years of drinking window easy. Prior notes applied.

Nose of ripe plum, black currant, raspberry, cinnamon, licorice, and subtle violet. Medium to full body but not as masculine as the last bottle, but still pack a punch. Love the 13% ABV. Will cruise for another 4-5 years.
