Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars
Reserve Okanagan Valley Pinot Gris
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada
Not your run I' the mill Pinot Gris but I think the fruit was past it's prime. Acidity held up nicely though.

Aug 28th, 20142017 Reserve Pinot Gris.
From 31 year old vines. Whole pressed cluster, 39% fermented in stainless steel and the remainder in oak. Pear and green apples with a light toast and herbs.
Great creamy mid-palate texture. Aged 6 months on the lees.
Roasted BC halibut has never had a better friend than this wine.

Subdued apple-pear, relatively crisp, but with a touch of butter. I remember my first acquaintance with Blue Mountain wines was this wine probably fifteen or twenty years ago at a restaurant paired with salmon and I remember the striped labels for the reserve wines back then. Such a restrained style. I still love it.
