Reductive with port-like flavors. Mostly one dimensional with a hint of tannins.

First red from Black Ankle. Garnet red with a dark core. Slightly stinky attack on the nose followed by some dark cocoa and nutmeg. Undertones of dark fruits. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) with a medium body. Dark cocoa and cherries on the palate with some good acidity and backbone. Long slightly dry finish. Drink till 2019. Very interesting Label actually says 11/12/13.

The 2009 is phenomenal. It aged beautifully and went fantastic with both steak and a side of seafood. Rich plum and berry nose. Smooth finish with a slight pepper bite.

Delicious Maryland wine. Lots of red fruit flavors, currants, and oakiness.
