12’ Bevan Tin Box. This was the bottle that re-introduced me a few years back to Bevan. Ever since then I’ve stockpiled quite a bit of Russell’s Bordeaux blends in my cellar. Hasn’t changed at all in the last two years. It’s got another 10 years+ in it. Great juice!

Finally have a bit of time to update my tasting notes from my visit to Napa the past few days. Did a bit of work for Montagu Wines, and enjoyed a ridiculous amount of wine, and good wine at that.
Russell Bevan is making wine at Brasswood, where we are for Montagu, so it was great meeting the larger than life man that he is. He was kind enough to share a glass of his Tin Box cab with us while we were all together and this wine represents him perfectly. This is a bold, in your face cab, that blows big fruit on the nose, and gripping tannins that want to beat you like a pulp, then let go just as soft as they were strong. Big boy cab, ladies and gentlemen.

The nose smacks you in the face with notes of gravel, graphite and dark fruits. Wonderfully balanced wine with well-integrates tannins. This is drinking beautifully now, but easily has another 10 years in it. Recommend holding on these.

Elegant as Bevan goes. Not quite Parker 100 but quite good, esp for 2011. I’ve raised the rating twice.

Pro nose with wildflowers all over the place. Great fruit and balance. Next to the Araujo this was like your insane nephew that will probably rule the world someday. Thanks again to @S.R.Alexander for the killer company, wine, and food!

If you have had Bevan you know what this wine is all about. Big fruit, big alcohol and lunch in the face characteristics. Was good and I can understand the love but was a distant 4th out of 7 on this night. Birthday Dinner
