Vintage 2015 / I do like this pinot noir better than the last time I tasted it. Other year? Other circumstances.

As most know, I am not a great lover of Pinot Noir, but the occasional exception can make my palate sing! This is one such vintage; vinted just outside Carmel By The Sea, by the proprietors of the Bernardus resort, it avoids the annoying style so predominant in California PN. The oak is restrained and the plum and blueberry flavors brought to the fore. It was a perfect accompaniment to open face tuna melt sandwiches 🐟 🥪 🍷😺

For a Pinot , this was heavy and a bit syrupy- went well with tbd home made French onion soup

2011 vintage. Simple, cherry and gunflint nose, deep color for Monterrey but still translucent. Simple, slight candied notes, fine tannins, plenty of acid. Relative bargain.

HWT - $33 on sale for $30, nice and light, not earthy! Yay! We had with Indian food that wasn’t very spicy and it held up well.
