2018 vintage. With 58,6 hectares under vine this is the largest Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion. It was bought in 1999 by Bernard Magrez, leading to a major improvement of the wines. Lately they seem to have toned down the oak handling a bit and this 2018 is the best Fombrauge I have ever tasted. Beautiful nose with red and black fruit, subtle spices with the oak providing a classy cedary touch. Full-bodied and layered, but with more finesse than ever, perfectly integrated oak and a long finish, this is terrific value at less than 25 euros.

Absolutely love this wine. Smooth and velvety. Rich dark black cherry and black currant, tobacco leaf, cedar, and tar. Delicious and mouth coating with a long finish.
