Opened and decanted 2 hours. Without food - very spicy and tannic with tobacco, pine overtones. With food - integrated and paired very well with steak. Forget turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I know this winery has a great reputation but I was a little disappointed. I read the 2015 vintage was uneven around Napa with some spots getting quick sugar ripening but phenolics couldn’t keep up. I feel it shows in this one as it would explain the high alcohol (over 15%!). The black fruit struggles to stand up to the robust oak notes, which are polished skillfully but with the short finish it all felt a bit out of balance. Kind of a let down for the reputation and the price point.

Day started with a 52 mile ride and ended with this lovely one to celebrate my birthday. Tobacco, dark berries, wood, licorice. Big full bodied Napa Cab. Embodies that classic Cab that doesn’t need a whole lot of extra to be memorable.

A well rounded Cabernet that opened up like a monarch. The French barrels kept it calm while the robust flavors of the wine came through without a heavy acidity. Well balanced and a true treat.

V15. Cab done right. Soft shaved cedar nose. Sharp black currant fruit. Pleasant bell pepper, chalk and soft boot leather finish. Amazing, it will only get better...
