Merengue to sea sponge crown gets downright "swissy" then steadily decomposing to cirrocumulus postures. Honey, pineapple and candied lemon complement innately, sugary grapefruit follows, shimmering under a soft snowfall of magnolia blossom, honeysuckle and honeydew, then teasing away from a coquettish sweetness through marmalade to a wooden knot brimming with shadowy crisps of burnt brown sugar, cinnamon and tobacco leaf, with just a cursory sip of lemon iced tea. Fragrant, multi-faceted and loaded with mind food.

Feb 13th, 2016This isn't quite what I thought it would be. This isn't my style of beer generally but even given that I'm not a big DIPA fan...this just isn't worth the hoopla. Good example of the style I feel like, but not exactly extraordinary. The alcohol is nicely integrated though. - Jan 17 2015 bottling

Feb 4th, 2015A bruiser, as usual. But this 2017 release seems a bit more lively than those from past years. Honey, pear tart, lush, toasty finish that doesn't let up. Worth the hype? The hunt? Maybe but this isn't quite the Holy Grail, at least today.

Mar 23rd, 2018Always an outstanding beer, the 2018 version seems rounder and a bit sweeter than usual, with less bitterness on the finish. Suits me fine.

Feb 5th, 2018I'm not that crazy about IIPAs but the hop characteristics of bitterness and citrus here, as they play off the honey are super fun. Also, for being a double IPA, the alcohol on the palate is very well integrated.
