Bedrock’s 2022 Rosé Ode to Lulu, a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah is one of the more complete Rosés readers will come across. Deep and beautifully layered, Ode to Lulu is a complex wine that will be at home either as an aperitif or as a companion at the dinner table. Rich, red-toned fruit, crushed flowers and subtle earthy notes all open effortlessly. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2023)

Limpid orange-pink. Incisive, mineral-tinged aromas of fresh red berries, nectarine and citrus zest are complemented by steadily building floral and succulent herb notes. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated white peach, strawberry and tangerine flavors that show fine delineation and firm tension. Deepens steadily on a long, mineral-driven finish that leaves a repeating floral note behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2022)

Who says rosé doesn't age! Grapefruit zest, unripe nectarine, sea salt, jamón Ibérico... Not for the hedonist crowd, but still delicious.

A bit leaner than I'd prefer. Love the producer, though.

Last of my '12 Rosés. Nice to go out on top with a perennial fave! Harmonious blend of old-vine Mourvèdre and Carignane with peach, strawberry speckles with minerality and a long spicy finish

Rose in October? Rose with ‘age’? Yes and yes, especially when it’s in the mid-70s in New York and it’s the ‘21 Bedrock Ode to Lulu. This wine gives you plenty of Bandol for the buck, based on old vine Mourvedre from premier vineyards. With another year in bottle, it was darker hued, subtler and perhaps even a bit sturdier than on initial release. A great wine for what feels like an endless summer.
