Impeccable color! Dark. Very light bricking. Barely any seepage on the cork. Ben nailed it when he mentioned a note of stewed tomatoes. Vegetal upfront, but it channeled some older fig and raisined cherries. Structure still holding.

Monthly WTF wine group. Special event this month as Ben provided all ‘80s Napa cabs. A few of us chipped in and provided some whites/bubbly.
Tough call between this and the ‘87. Very similar. ‘87 showed more toasted graham cracker. This still showed an impressive amount of red and black fruit that ended up very Bordeaux like (earthy flavors and dusty tannins).

In great shape and still bright and fresh. Good blueberry fruit with fine tannins upon opening that evolved into more secondary stewed berry fruit notes. Solid for being 31 years old!

The 1986 "50th Anniversary" Latour is still alive and kicking, a lovely drop of wine with perky but fading fruit, graceful, restrained with fully integrated wood spice and tannins. Quite enjoyable.
