Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

What a difference a decade makes!!

We visited this property several years ago and purchased this bottle. Ok but a bit disappointing for the price point.

Lots of blackberry and raspberry deliciousness in this. We smell slate and graphite and earthy goodness.

Enjoying some great Napa wines at Lake Atitlan Guatemala while remembering our winery visit. Enjoyed too early.

Brought this with us to Panama. Enjoyed between various locally available South American wines. Not a fair comparison.

Dictionary definition of full bodied = this Barnett Cabernet. Deep and dark in the glass with a great bouquet of blackberries, lavender, vanilla and sweet perfume. Smooth taste with good fruit, liquorice and spices but not overpowering tannins, definitely some sweetness and a ‘heavy’ but satisfying mouthfeel. Very good wine for the price and certainly one to enjoy now or keep to see how it develops.

Great fruit balanced with right amount of tannins. Could have used some a bit more depth / structure.

Rich, full bodied fruit forward Cabernet from Spring Mountain. Fantastic notes of dark fruit and spice on the nose. Wonderful flavors of blackberries, dark plums, currants and a hint of anise on the palate. Super sleek tannins and beautiful structure make this a great wine, especially for the price.

I drank this bottle on to separate occasions and two completely different experiences. This is all about going bold, big, or go home. It’s a big California Cab. A little too big for me.
