Much more oak than the regular 2010 Brunello due to the extra year or so of aging, but a gorgeous bouquet of tobacco and mocha, with luscious cherries, Mediterranean herbs, anise, and after a good hour decant, a very smooth finish. Big firm wine with a sturdy tannic structure. Over all, I will give this a 92, but I'm truly excited to try the 2010 Reserva!

Some of the fruit had faded away after decanting nearly 20 hours with a plastic bag over the lid.. but other complexities and even earthiness had taken control. Still quite lovely and aromatic.

Jul 28th, 2018Cherries, leather, dried oregano, a lot of earthiness. Got strong mushroom/truffle on the nose, noticed that’s not noted on anyone else’s tasting notes. Am I crazy?
