Clear garnet with gem-like highlights. Inviting nose of violets and black tea. Palate is medium full bodied and echoes the nose adding black cherry from entry and a bit of tar on the lingering finish. Well structured with assertive (but not aggressive) medium plus tannins and medium plus acidity. A Langhe that portends what’s to come when the 2019 twins of Barolo and Barbaresco are released in a few years. It’s already an excellent match for for hearty beef and pork dishes, but priced so that you can take it to the pizzeria or upscale your take out. I can’t wait for the big boys either, but enjoy this now through 2029 or so.

2 people found it helpfulDec 22nd, 2021Beefier & more muscular vs some previous vintages. Also v. young so needs time to breathe & open up.
Floral, fresh, fragrant. Ripe dark cherries, a a hint of lighter red fruit, fresh roses, a bit of tree bark, a whiff of aged beef. Fresh & aetheric.
On the palate this shows amazing purity of red fruit, with juicy acidity and quite a muscular tannic frame. Beefier vs other vintages I remember. Overall perfectly balanced and with a nice long finish. The 14% unnoticeable at first but maybe adding to the muscle. A good steak wine!
