The rare occasion where the first Barbera sip says you opened this too soon. Chalky like an aged Loire but not showing much fruit or complexity right now. Way more expressive on night 2.

Beautiful medium ruby color with medium body. Savory flavors and aromas - grilled fruit, a kiss of smoky oak, a hint of tar. An altogether beguiling wine

A serious wine with fruit, power, and acid in generous measure. // Color is dark. Aromas are intense black raspberry jam. In the mouth, the acid rushes forward and then faded into copious meat and hickory smoke. Excellent. $30 retail.

Great value which bumped up the rating...for only $25, this wine has A LOT going on. Sugarplum, dark cherry, raspberry, all spice, new leather, a touch of meatiness, dusty cocoa, powdered sugar, violets, and maybe a touch of soy at the end. The tannins are surprisingly smooth and well integrated. The acids are not overwhelming. I will be buying more of this lovely Italian wine!

This would be a terrific Thanksgiving wine with turkey.

On the nose: blackberry, mulberry leaf, blueberry, a touch of vanilla. On the palate, excellent acidity, blackberry, mulberry, tangy and very juicy. Attenuated tannin on the juicy finish...much more evolved than my last bottle.

Lovely Barbera!
Great balance probably thanks to the warm vintage

Wonderful medium bodied barbera. Super Smooth with a hint of spice, chalk and plum. And a great price at $70 and Morton’s. Buy if they have it, you won’t regret it.

Poured into a wide-bottom decanter. Nose of smoke, mulberry and plum; very dark with some toasty notes. On the palate, a little less open, very dark red and black fruit, but still very juicy with nice acidity. Needs some time to expand.
