Brancatelli, valle del sogno, Toscana 2011. 80% cabernet, 20% cabernet franc. French Oak barriques for 14 months, then bottle aged for 6 months. The color is very dark. The legs are slow and thick. It is only 13.5%. The bouquet is plum pudding and spice. The initial palate is chocolate and plumb. It has no spice on the beginning but it explodes with spice on the finish. There are Earth tones and tobacco on the finish as well. Overall, over priced, but a good wine for entertaining. If it were 30 bucks instead of 70 Id give it a 9.5. Okay its one hour later and after decanting it is now not drinkable! It tastes like metalic sour iron metal!!!!!!! Pouring it out!

Apr 12th, 2017I am proud to introduce an Italian Super Tuscan that I have been looking for for years! This is a wonderful example of a cabernet Franc at 30%!!!!! And a cabernet sauvignon blend. If you want an affordable cab / cab franc - one of my favorites, you absolutely have to try this one. Please note, if I give a wine a perfect score it means I would be happy to serve it to anyone at anytime with my 100% confidence that they will love it and want it and love me for it!!!! OMG. This is awesome! Here we go, this is Brancatelli, Valle Delle Stelle, Toscana 2013! It is only 13.5 %! First, decant for 30 minutes!!!! The color is dark but not opaque! The legs are long, thick, slow, and numerous in number. The bouquet is sweet cherry pie baking in the oven with a spicy aroma and a fig tree with rip figs. The initial palate is of coarse blackberry and dark currant with a mid palate explosion of vanilla and spice. The finish is oaky and dry leaving you wanting a splash of water to wet your palate! I adore this wine!

Very Bordeaux like. Currants, tobacco and molasses on the nose. 7 yrs in the bottle really mellowed out the tannins and color. 80% cab 20% cab franc.
