Heavy and quite rustic. Requires a game stew.

A bit gamey at first. Fruity. A bouquet with presence. A bit heavier than I’d like, but enjoyable.

Tastes like cola spice and blueberries. This get points for finesse and structural balance (yes, the 15% abv isn't overwhelming), and the fruit is so rich but still fresh, while the tannins were utterly smooth. Maybe comparison to a brunello left me searching for more savoriness, but no matter: an expression of montepulciano to seek out!

A really enjoyable Montepulciano. I've never had a great one before, but this was a pleasure. Rich and ripe.
