After 20 min decant this had a powerful attack on the nose, earthy and rich cherry fruit, smoke. The mature vanilla oaky notes have evolved to wet earth tones, including some oak and vanilla bean, espresso. The only thing wrong with this Azelia is that it was served next to the ‘99 Scavino from the same Clos!

Aug 31st, 2018This one also felt young to the group, and came out a bit awkward. 2 hours later it was singing, I went back to it twice. Sweet tannins at the core powered through to a long, good-tangy finish. Uncertain how long this has to go, so decant and drink up. The awkward phase scared me...
