Aubert
UV-SL Vineyard Chardonnay
See my prior notes. A beauty already. This should sail on for some time.

Feb 16th, 2024Enjoyed with John and Noelle. Lovely bright lemony citrus, medium bodied. Delightful acid, well balanced. Paired with spicy garlic shrimp and lobster spaghetti. Delish!

Nov 23rd, 2023Always a multiplier to reconnect with Aubert. We really try to just buy the entry-level chards, but Aubert has made it virtually impossible to buy em without purchasing their premium chards. Great wines for sure, but I have more important items to spend my hard earned on. Beautiful wine, tho…

Aug 7th, 2023For my taste profile, I normally enjoy Hudson (and now Powder House, with it being younger vines) on the young side…somewhere at 4-5yrs. UV-SL kind of falls in the middle for me, so I gave the 2017 UV-SL a test drive.
Wasn’t able to prepare this with a decant, but it needed it. Richly pear colored in the glass, it has a lot of bright fruits like peach, pear and tropical pineapple with honeysuckle, honey roasted nuts and a mineral note. The palate is really dense with a minty flair, as well as sea salt, popcorn kernel, and signature lemon cream. This improved the longer it was open. Fruit started to play nicely with the savory notes. This 2017 came across a bit fat at first and then balanced out. Based on my experiences so far, this will improve with a few more years, but it was really enjoyable with an hour or two of air.

16’ Aubert UV-SL Chardonnay. Incredible, would be even better in a year.

Jun 25th, 202014’ Aubert UV-SL. Wine Nerd Herd virtual tasting. Been fortunate enough to have this wine a dozen times. Unlike the 2013 I had last week, this has seen better days. Still delicious & won’t turn down a glass/bottle. It certainly will drink for many years to come. The 2013 has got another 5/8 years in it.. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a case of the 13.
Makes points of subtlety & finesse, with touches of cream, smoky oak, apple & pear, light acidity ,falls short towards the end of the glass. Ending with a poached pear & oaky finish.

13’ Aubert UV-SL Chardonnay. Needs 30 minutes in the glass. Medium + bodied.
It exhibits aromas of Pear, mango, pineapple, baked apple & subtle background spiced wood(age). A mix of tropical fruit, salinity, moderate acidity finish to it. Very balanced. Drink these up in the next 2/3 years. Has the ability to age another 5+. Cheers! Edit- Personally this is about as old as I like drinking my Aubert Chardonnay’s. Double Edit- Until this one.
