The 2011 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is laced with hints of dried pear, orange peel, mint, spice, ginger and caramel. The Ritchie appears to be a bit more forward than the other 2011 Chardonnays in this tasting, but has tremendous richness and the viscosity that is such an Aubert signature. Tasted from magnum. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022)

Drinking 04. It’s perfect with foods that have rich sauce. There’s some acid left, but flavors of butter popcorn, caramel and chemicals dominate. Still an interesting and worthy wine to drink, but probably past it’s peak.

Big and powerful. A lot of mid palate depth, leaning tropical in fruit tones.

15’ Aubert Ritchie. Best Ritchie I’ve enjoyed from Mark to date? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Medium + bodied. Beautifully balanced Chardonnay. White peach, splash of pineapple core, apricot, white toast, sprinkle in a bit of floral spices. 3 favorites from this vineyard are Château Boswell- Arista- Aubert. Cheers. -at BLT Honolulu, Hawaii

Great bottle. What I’ve come to expect from Aubert. That creaminess and citrus and just balance. Nice. Crowd pleaser. Drank next to the ‘09 Larry Hyde and Sons and the Hyde showed more Burgundian notes. I preferred the Hyde but the Ritchie more of a crowd pleaser.

Wednesday Wine Committee hosted by Dan. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. Tasted blind as usual.

I guessed the producer was Aubert based on the power but also based on the signature sweet lemon cream notes. It didn’t have the Ritchie “nuttiness” I traditionally get, but it evolved more in the glass. More elegant than other Aubert chards and certainly less acidity. Lemon confit, marzipan, caramel apple.

Spiced, baked pear. Candied pineapple. Oak aging to know it’s not Burgundy, but some tendencies. One of the better Auberts for sure.

WOW... blown away. Can’t believe this is the Ritchie I’ve had past vintages of? The balance on this wine is close to flawless. Drinking perfectly right now. Great bottle of Chardonnay. Many wonderful years in front of it.

Forgot to post these from the other day. Mark, Dan and I were able to enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the wine storage facility, and some unique stuff was opened, as always!

Fortunate to have had the ‘13 and ‘14 Ritchie so recently. I’ve said it before, but I always get a nutty and waxy note for Ritchie vineyard chards. I got a lot of that on the ‘14, but it felt more subdued on the ‘13. Still had its typical lovely honeyed almond trait on the palate. Great Chardonnays. Thanks Dan.
