Well received by a consensus of tasters at the Conference. Named after the ship that charted and explored the Marlborough Coast in 1827. Grapes are sourced from multiple sites in Marlborough to make this Pinot Noir.

Notes of spice, tobacco, even raisin. Thinner than some reds with some tannins right at the finish. A nice New Zealand red.

I was just curious about NZ Pinots, this one is round, supple with full on cherry and a bit of raspberry. Unfortunately lacks a bit of earthy notes of a good Pinot. Although drinkable it has a a bit of barn and horse hair on the nose suggesting perhaps some spoilage during maturation. Let’s drink more and see...🤪
