Masses of black cherry, sage, brown spice and mocha waft up from the 2016 Montefalco Rosso. This is soft and cool-toned, with a pure display of ripe plums giving way to purple-tinged inner florals. The expression turns more savory through the finale, tapering off to tart wild berries framed by a coating of gentle tannins. The Montefalco Rosso is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot. (Eric Guido, Vinous, August 2021)

Tasty central Italian blend. Full-bodied with ripe black plum and boysenberry, structuring tannins, medium & integrated acidity. Best with food but sippable on its own, especially on cold nights.

Still very young with a very reserved nose of iron, ketchup and beef bouillon. Great acidic punch and nicely integrated tannins leading to a moderate finish. Punches above its weight.

Noteworthy for good balance - just the right weight. Mint, marshmallow, and dark fruit on the nose. Slightly tannic. Good for grilled meat or pastas.
