I have a soft spot for this producer. This 100% sargrantino requires at least 15 years post bottling, but from there, the wine sings.
Nice fruit profile of cherries and strawberries, gives way to cinnamon, tobacco, coffee, and bay leaves. Big tannins create a strong structure, from which the remaining components hang from. Hold this for another 15 years, easily.

This is a tannic monster. Should have left this another 5 years - oh well...
Super wine, but not quite ready.

Interesting notes of oak, parmesan and maybe raclette subtlety greet the senses I know this sounds odd). Loads and rich cherries and cinnamon rush the palette. Tannins are huge and will need another 5 years to resolve. A rustic, gnarly, strong presentation that picked up in style and character on day two. The oak profile is sublime. Give this more time.

At a very nice spot. Sagrantino needs this kind of time to mellow

This wine was kind of a big deal. A personal favorite of mine that never disappoints. Deep dark fruit—it looks like earl grey tea in the glass. Very extracted with a brooding character and so much rich fruit consistency. The essence of this wine always brings to mind the Vega Sicilia Unico for me. Exquisite depth.

Tasted several times in the recent past. This is an Italian hidden gem. Way too young, and will further improve in the cellar. Dense and clean on the palette with spices and coffee, laced with black fruits. Multiply the experience with bread and cheese.

Still a robust expression of my favorite indigenous Italian varietal. The venti cinque is sagrantino on steroids. Chewy bitter cocoa, Carmel, dried cherries and a hint of eucalyptus and anise. An hour plus of decant and a messy cork but what a cellar treat. Still miles and miles to go.

Still a tannic monster, but eased a touch by its age. The fruit is still very much intact. Hard to decide whether I waited long enough to open it…
