Feb 9th, 2018ABreu fruit. This has shed its puppy-fat. Much more ethereal presentation. Lovely cedar notes, complemented by lightly roasted coffee.
On the palette, the wine is clean and pure. Nice density with oodles of barrel toast. Ripe black cherry fruit act as a perfect counter-point. Beautiful tannins with bright acidity. Very enjoyable.

A blend of four Bdx varietals. So contemporary and dense on the nose. Huge presentation on the palette. Classic blue and blacks fruits, with a massive, opulent finish.

Sep 13th, 20172007 vintage. Arietta's "entry level" Bordeaux blend from David Abreu's Howell Mountain vineyard, blended with remains of his Hudson vineyard (at the time). 51% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Intense perfume with big black fruit, pencil lead, cedar wood and a gentle touch of vanilla. Full-bodied with layers of rich dark fruit, subtle spices, fresh balancing acidity and a long mineral finish. Very impressive indeed.

Aug 31st, 20172013 Vintage. Decent wine that had pretty good balance between fruit and nonfruit notes. Dark, rich but with pencil shaving and grainy tannins. Good, but was lacking a "wow" factor. Don't think it earns its price tag.

1 person found it helpfulDec 13th, 2015Cabernet based blend. Dark cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, cedar, earth, roasted coffee beans, pencil shavings. Great complexity, elegant, well-balanced. Med+ body, smooth on the palate. Excellent mix of 2 styles: Napa fruit based Cab blend and typical earthy Bordeaux blend. Consistent quality of Arietta wines!
