Hommage a Max Syrah

Brett with bandaid upfront on the nose. Very underripe fruit. Tart. Barnyard. Herbal with little to zero savory notes. Some iron too. Tobacco wrapped licorice. Still some great acidity. Not getting any better, so drink up.

Beautiful, Rhone styling with California fruit. Starting to resolve, lush but restrained, plums and meat. Lightly bretty, perfect for me, but YMMV.

Caught this bottle at the perfect moment - fruit, meat, smoke, pepper. The only thing that separates this from a Cornas is the elevated ABV, but it's so well balanced that it just comes across weightier then you'd find in the northern Rhone. Beautiful.

Such energy and drive in this wine.

Beautiful, complex nose. Less complete on the palate - blackberry, sandy tannin, slightly harsh acidity

Game, woolly and dried dark fruit. Easy drinking

Bit of funk on the nose which lifted, then engaging fruit and a smooth finish

Fruit still fresh, blackberries...finishes nicely

Still plenty of fruit , finishes well
