Clos Pepe Vineyard Chardonnay

Perfect with chicken scallopine with beurre blanc. Loved this wine immensely.

Pulled to go with scallops - one of the rare cases where California chardonnay seems to fit for me. Even withn Arcadian's old world sensibility, this was seriously earthy, sappy and mineral focused. Orchard fruit was the last thing to come to mind. Probably would have been a better match with the food if it showed more of its Cali roots, but on its own merits, pretty damn delicious.

I love this oxidized white. It’s rare to drink chardonnay with this bottle age, and I like the notes of petrol that emerge. At $38, it’s a great value.

This is a great way to drink an older white. A little funky and oxidized, subdued, some apple juice notes. Great value, ~$40.
