Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards wine from the north end of the valley. Of course the pedigree and history behind Araujo and Altagracia (named after his grandmother) is as awesome as this Bordeaux blend wine. The 2012 availability just made it all the nicer.

Drinking really well. Tannins are full integrated, blind would have you believe Bordeaux. Excellent wine.

Starts out as a Cali cab and moves into a Bordeaux style wine with air. I’d let it go for a while longer as the tannins are still pronounced

In such a great place with several years ahead of it. Crushed violets, chocolate and tobacco abound. Yes please!

Excellent. Not over extracted, overly tannic. Just perfect with short ribs.

Absolutely delicious and super well-balanced. I'm impressed especially considering this is Araujo's third (!) label. I'm not sure they even make the Altagracia II anymore, think just the Altagracia? Can't remember how or where I acquired this but wish I had more!

A lot bigger than most Napa reds. Very earthy with a long satisfying finish.

Wow-worth the wait. Balanced tannins but can still taste the fruit. Special to share with friends!

Bordeaux-like Cali cab. Black currant, black cherry, full bodied with cedar & spice notes. Great with Tri-Tip!
