Wood and spice jump out of the glass. Eucalyptus and dark fruit layering underneath. Very drinkable and good balance

Simple. But distinctly old world...though it has some similarities to traditional Rioja (American oak?). Anyway, works with the food.

Sun-baked sour cherry, jammy red plum, and a curl of incense show on the nose and palate. Poor acidity and barely-there tannin send this into flabby territory but it's smoothness should mollify those who say they hate red wine.
