Aphros
'Phaunus' Loureiro
Surprisingly tropical, but otherwise this is poised, with a taut, saline frame, and complex herbal and mineral notes. Lightly tannic with tingling acidity. Try with seafood, simply grilled or fried.

May 3rd, 2020Loureiro (white) grapes with some Vinhao (red) blended in. Creamsicle orange color (cloudy appearance). Aromas and flavors of peach, apricot, red wine vinegar, yellow apple, underripe red berries and pepper spice. Slight hint of beeswax on the finish. Totally funky and interesting. Another solid vintage. Thank you for sharing, Aaron B.

May 18th, 2024Funky to the max! My first taste of the native Portuguese grape, Loureiro. Aromas of butcher’s wax (color also reminiscent of this product), honey and golden apple. Nutty with light yellow fruit flavors with a touch of honey on the finish. Aged in clay amphora. Totally interesting.

May 16th, 2021four days open stoppered in fridge makes this a great zoom finisher....pleasantly oxidized now it’s got enough dill to make an artisanal pickle and it’s tropical edge arcs toward apothecarial. some residual tension in the back with the acid even more present, and that grapefruit just a whisper. I would wager you can age this bottle.
