Really nicely balanced red. Can be paired with pretty much anything that would be good with a red!

Expected more from this one. Good flavor, but not lasting long. Plain bouquet.

Tonight's wine is from the Southern Hemisphere. I have opened the 2013 Apaltagua Reserva Carmenere Apaltagua Valley Estate Grown Colchagua, Chile.

There are aromas of raspberry puree, sour cherries, green peppercorn, herbaceousness and granite minerality.

The palate gives me red raspberry, sour cherry, lots of green bell pepper and herbaceous notes, fennel, minerality and light oak.

I get a medium to light mouth feel. Medium tannins, medium acidity. Light on the front end builds on the mid palate then really loses something on the backend.

Not a terrible wine. If you like the green notes of the bell pepper and herbaceousness, which I do, this is for you. If it weren't for these types of palate pleasing notes my score would be a lot lower.

Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷

Was hoping for a bit more spice. I feel like I'm eating a bell pepper. But it's not bad.

Predominant flavors of cherry, blackberry, clove and vanilla; strong presence of oak, while maintaining the smooth body that the carmenere grape provides

Upon opening the nose is not pleasant...petroleum product of some sort. Light-bodied with slight tannins, and strong herbal green flavor. After an hour it was better, but the petroleum smell was still there and we could taste it in the wine. Not a bad wine, but not for everyone.
