These are night 2 notes as this wine was a bit severe in night 1. The air has helped. Nose is a bit reserved but give up spicy black berry fruit and smoky dark rocks. Mouthfilling and rich, but still quite tannic. It’s a bit like Cornas would be if made from Portuguese varietals instead of Syrah. A wine for braised meats (I had it with braised pork chops) rather than on its own.

Nose has dark berries, lots of minerality, smoke and woodsy underbrush. Deeply- flavored and quite rich on entry, then structurally turns a bit firmer. Nice balance.

A very good Portuguese red with some nice fruit. Little bit tannic. I think some grilled beef would pair with it nicely.
