Garnet purple in the glass. Dark berries and tar on the palate. Medium body. No real tannins to speak of, though the strikingly bright acidity makes up for it. That’s the only thing “bright” about it though, as it has a distinct brooding character through the smoky, tarry finish. Nice red with pork or anywhere else you might serve Riesling (but your dining partner “doesn’t do white”).

Reminds me of Gamay from Loire. It's spicy, lively, bright but wild. Really delicious little value wine. Tasty stuff.
