A more leaner rendition of this varietal, but in a good way. Nose displays clean cinnamon and toast. Palate is broad and expansive, yet light on its feet. A kiss of vanilla pod and black fruits conclude an excellent presentation. This is an intellectual wine.

The 2018 Montefalco Sagrantino Pagliaro is coy in the glass, slowly awakening with a mentholated blend of crushed blackberries, sage and flowery underbrush. It flows across the palate with ease, silky and round with bright red and black fruits underscored by salty mineral tones and exotic spice. This leaves a balsamic flourish through the finale, along with crunchy tannins that create a push and pull of youthful tension as hints of dried cherries slowly taper off. While stepping lightly, the 2018 is nearly sultry in style, tempting the imagination with what further maturity will bring. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2023)

I nailed the variety and vintage in blind tasting!!! So happy 😄!
Deep ruby, black olive, tart blueberry, tart blackberry, spearmint, thyme, sage!! Dusty forest floor. Elevated gritty tannins. Medium+ acidity. Full body.

2015. Lamenting the 7 vintages of this wine I’ve likely missed since the 2007 we loved last Christmas, so I could not pass it up today. Fantastic cherry fruit flavors and the tannins were present but not overpowering. Paired so well with the Hanger Steak and Chicken Crepinette large plates.
