Saturday night and I have opened the 2016 Protea Chenin Blanc from South Africa, the Swartland. 100% Chenin Blanc.

On the nose I am getting honeydew melon, lime, white peach, pear, honey, apple blossom and mandarin orange.

On the palate there is tangy citrus notes, stone fruit, lime, lemon, yellow apple, melon, white peach, apricot and mandarin orange.

This wine is light to medium bodied yhat is well balanced with medium + to high acidity that leads to a fresh crisp long finish. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Please stay safe and continued great weekend. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

A very nice wine to drink - light with a melon taste and a slightly metallic aftertaste.

Originally drawn to the design of the bottle, and the noticed it had flavors of pear, citrus, and honeysuckle so I bought it. I was somewhat disappointed. A fruity and tart, drier white wine. Not as sweet as I would have thought but with the flavors it has, I would have liked it to have been. Probably wouldn't buy again.

Light straw color; Lemon zest, honeydew, and yellow apple on the nose; high acidity; a little bitter, with flavors of sour apple, seasalt, and lemon. Nellie doesn't like it.

Crisp and clean with a smooth mouth feel. Paired well with paprika chicken and arugula flatbread. Notes of citrus, pear and stone fruit. Slight sweetness but well balanced with a tart finish.

A lovely Chenin. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.
