Barolo Nebbiolo

Perfectly mature and so nice. So much spice, mahogany furniture, 19th Century first editions, and complexity in the perfume. Still a fair amount of relaxed, spiced cherry fruit on the palate, with interesting leather notes. Tannins resolved, decent acids. It’s 15% listed alcohol, but it’s not poking out.

Mar 10th, 2025Classic garnet with light violet tinges and a wide rim. If you’ve ever tasted a Barolo or standard Nebbiolo, then you can close your eyes and almost describe this bottle perfectly. A soft, almost subdued nose featuring the resiquite dried cherries and new leather. Mushrooms, licorice, and plums compliment. Spice and dark chocolate also show.
Budget Barolo! You never quite know what you’re going to get. I’ve certainly had my share of duds but this is good stuff. It lacks the complexity and refinement of others but it does provide all the fun characteristics you’re expecting. Silky smooth and velvet on the tongue. Even at this youthful stage it’s highly approachable and playful. Medium weight and acidity, with firm tannins.
After plenty of air, the palate opens up and expresses itself with black olives, leather, and more cherries. Faded roses, oak, dark chocolate, and just the barest hint of toasted walnuts. A fun lil Barolo and worth the time.
